OUR AIM

We provide a learning experience through structured play, using the Government's advised curriculum for all pre-school aged children, called the Early Years Foundation. We offer a safe, secure, friendly and stimulating environment in which your child will learn new skills and gain confidence and independence before moving on to Infant or Primary school.

Welcome

At the start of each day when children arrive at pre-school, they greet their friends and are seated and greeted with 'good morning' in Makaton, which they do in return. The register is called and everyone joins in with counting the children.

Activity Time

At the end of the morning the children are encouraged to help tidy up and then sit on the mat for another group learning time where they have stories, sing, make music or take part in jolly phonics. It is then time for lunch when all children are encouraged to wash their hands before sitting at the tables to eat their packed lunch.

Lunch Club & Afternoon Sessions

Some children leave after the morning session, while others stay for lunch club. They bring a packed lunch, and sit down at tables and eat together, followed by free play. For children joining or staying for afternoon sessions, this follows a similar pattern to the morning, including a snack break.

Outdoor Activities

We have a free flow outdoor play area that is set up in 7 learning zones that mirror indoors learning: physical, maths, understanding the world, expressive arts & design (art & role play), literacy, communication & language, and personal social & emotional. We go outside whatever the weather and supply waterproof trousers and jackets for all.

Learning Themes

Each half term period is arranged around a theme, within which your child’s next steps are taken into consideration so they can learn through play, craft activities, games, singing and topic discussion.

Extra Activities

The children enjoy extra-curricular activities at no extra cost to you. We will soon be starting to offer ‘Relax Kids’ sessions that help build mental and emotional health skills at a young age. We also create fun days with external partners to add some differentiation through the year, such as visits from a small petting farm and Weird Science.

Annual Events

We are also committed to ensuring the children and their families enjoy a range of events throughout the year. These events include our Christmas Nativity, Sports Day and the Easter Egg Hunt. We are very proud of these events and they are a wonderful time for all families to come and see their children flourish.
